I feel honored to resume after a two and a half months maternity leave whereby I was blessed with twins (boys). I was given an overall update of what had been going on by the Director and the acting coordinator, Josephine Ngugi, who was in charge during my absence.
I was updated about the progress concerning L.I.F.E jackets where about 38,560 of them had been completed. The Economy Department is currently in progress of making more L.I.F.E jackets. Our target is to make more than five thousand per week. Ten more Malaika Mums joined our organization bringing the total to 19 to help meet the targets.
For the last 3 years the Economy programme had been working on L.I.F.E bags but thought it wise to expand to something more unique. Bags will still be made periodically.
This year in June we started making L.I.F.E jackets after realizing we needed to act on environmental matters. This project has been of great help to the Economy programme by making it sustainable and creating job opportunities in the community thus truly changing life through empowerment.
Thank you,
Liz Josiah, Economy Coordinator
