Cucu Shamba

With so many children having lost their parents to AIDS, countless grandmothers in the community are left to take care of their grandchildren. Cucu (sho-sho) Shamba (Swahili for “grandmother’s garden”) is a CTC initiative to educate this population of  women on sustainable farming methods.  These women manage the gardens, serving as an educational tool to the community. Each harvest is then used by these women to feed their families, earn an income, and supplement the diets of HIV positive residents in the community.
