Comfort the Children International works alongside Kenyan communities to provide resources that create sustainable change. Instead of simply giving aid and money to those in need, we build relationships and programs that empower residents to help themselves.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that helps Kenyans build and manage the sustainable infrastructure necessary to meet the challenges of everyday life, employing over 75 local Kenyans and serving the 60,000 residents of Maai Mahiu in the Rift Valley.
CTC’s initiatives focus on education, environment, economy, health and community development that directly impact the community as a whole. Our programs are delivered through local relationships, creating the foundation necessary to make lasting changes while ensuring that your donations of time and money have a maximum positive effect.
"CTC's approach runs deeper than a cause-based approach to development. CTC lives in the communities that we serve. We know their names and they know ours. We realized early on that a lot of development is an unequal exchange from the organization to those needing the help. The outcomes, therefore, of most 'aid' or 'development' is built on a culture of dependency with handouts. CTC is creating a new culture of empowerment where the exchange is mutual - between the development organization and the communities served. Again it is a partnership built on friendship with layers that is creating lasting empowering impact for thousands.”Zane WilemonFounder & Executive Director
