What:

• Organizing, funding and staffing quarterly medical trips to Maai Mahiu, Kenya.
• Establishing pediatric specialty clinics in Maai Mahiu and a mutual relationship with the local Kijabe hospital.
• Partnering with Dell Children’s Medical Center and its practitioners to allow us to provide specialty medical services for the children of rural Kenya.
• Developing and hosting fundraising events to facilitate our projects and provide medications and supplies for the children we treat.

 

Why:

The lack of availability to seek medical care is staggering in Maai Mahiu. Volunteer medical clinics offer general care to residents not only of our community but surrounding areas as well.

How:

• Work with the Austin pediatric community alongside the Kenyan town of Maai Mahiu to provide basic primary care and specialty programs for children.
• Build a sustained relationship between our pediatric community and the children of Kenya to gradually improve the level of care provided.
• Coordinate with our partner organizations to provide these healthcare services as part of a broader community development program.
• Collaborate with other facilities dedicated to the health of children in Kenya.
• In the future, build a permanent clinic facility in Maai Mahiu, Kenya that will eventually be staffed full-time through our support.
• Incorporate training programs as we expand with the ultimate goal of increasing self-sufficiency in the region.
