Last week, CTC youth had a blast with media arts training. The training was held at CTC offices in Maai Mahiu with Hawa Mire, co-founder of Point Youth Media. It was very inspiring to see people passionate about youth empowerment, from different organizations all over the world, come together to learn and share and create.
Hawa Mire arrived in Maai Mahiu last Tuesday along with two youth from Amagezi Gemaanyi Youth Association. Point Youth Media (PYM) is a youth serving organization that provides free technical media arts training to empower youth facing systemic barriers. They have done work in Uganda, Tanzania and Canada and now can add Kenya to that list.
Amagezi Gemaanyi Youth Association (AGYA) is an organization that works in urban Uganda. AGYA creates safe, supportive, sustainable learning environments where youth can develop leadership skills and express themselves creatively.
During the four day training on media, we covered a large range of topics; photography, shooting angles, film process, stop motion animation and much more! We learned a great deal and had a fantastic time.
Be sure to stay tuned to the CTC blog as we put our new media skills to work!
