A Hands-on Experience with Poultry Keeping

This week, we headed back to school. But not high school, poultry school! The CTC youth and five grandmothers from our environment initiatives were part of a training program on poultry keeping. We were so encouraged to see the grandmothers pick up new skills, showing us the wonders of lifelong learning. The training was truly a great experience as we went from learning to implementing within a day and covered several subjects at the same time.

We used mathematics as we worked to figure out the dimensions of poultry housing. Our wonderful teacher was available to help everyone who struggled with calculations.

We revisited science lessons by learning the scientific names of all the diseases that affect poultry.

We exercised our vocabulary by translating these scientific diseases into local languages.

We did some accounting as we discussed opportunities for investment to sustain our poultry project.

Thanks a lot to CTC and Whole Planet foundation for giving the youth a chance to learn all about poultry in a simple, engaging way. We’re also very grateful to our precious teacher for sharing her knowledge with us as young people.

Now watch us put it into practice!
