Staff Retreat in Mombasa

This weekend, the CTC staff family, both from Kenya and USA, came together for a retreat in Mombasa, Kenya. The retreat was meant to bridge the gap between the two country offices through team building, such as answering personal questions about our childhood. We made it our goal to develop a “CTC culture,” which integrated both Kenyan and US cultures. To achieve this, we worked on our communication, organizational, and conflict management skills. Many of our discussions about creating the CTC culture were conducted by our Board President, Dr. Barrie, and our Chief Executive Director, Zane Wilemon.

When we were not working, we relaxed and enjoyed the ocean and pool. Many of us learned how to swim, and at every meal, we came together and enjoyed wonderful food like red snapper and fresh fruit.

In the past months, a lot of progress has been made in first gear, but now it is time to change gears so that we can accelerate the pace of development in our community and the rest of the world. This retreat was our way to go from first gear to second gear.

Thanks and blessings go out to everyone who made this retreat a success. We are refreshed and ready to hit the ground running.

Thank you,

Bernard Owino, H.I.V./AIDS Program Assistant &Youth Coordinator
