Greetings loved ones,
It's with great sadness that we share the news with you of the passing of our sweet and dear friend Jame Kiiru.
Our lil buddy James Kiiru passed away this week after struggling for several weeks in the final stages of HIV/AIDS. James has been a part of CTC before it ever became CTC. James was one of the first friends that Zane ever made in Kenya and in the beginning was a driving force for helping Zane to stay so dedicated when things with or efforts seemed dark and hopeless. James was CTC's go to translator in those first few years especially as CTC began to engage and support the HIV community in Maai Mahiu.
We know James touched many of you. This is the reason we do this work, because of beautiful souls like little James who possess something incredible within their hearts and yet carry a burden alone that none of us will ever understand. It was 10 years ago that Zane first met James. It was 7 years ago that Jeremiah and Zane sat in a little cafe and informed him that he was born with HIV. And now after 10 years of knowing and loving James, our friend is Gods.
Thank you for loving James and for being his friend. Thank you for all that each of you has done to create CTC and allow it to be what it is today. Please keep James and his loved ones in your prayers as they celebrate his life and mourn his death at his burial tomorrow.
Attached an article written by our friend Lamor Williams back in 2004. On page 4 of the article there is a photo of James with Zane standing in the polytechnic school that was CTC's first project. At the time of the photo James was 13. James graduated from the school of tailoring at that polytechnic in 2009 and has been working as a tailor in Maai Mahiu under the watchful and loving eye of Jeremiah Kuria. Pretty amazing that for the time James was with us he lived and created a life through the life and opportunity each of you created by playing your part in the CTC story.
Thank you,
CTC Family
