- STORIES FROM MAAI MAHIU, KENYA -
There is much going on the CTC land! From Café UBUNTU, to new garden projects and construction of the resource centre, CTC has so much happening all under one roof.
Café UBUNTU is currently serving the best pizza and best quality coffee in Maai Mahiu, Kenya.
To make the pizzas, we are using a variety of fresh vegetables provided by the CTC gardens located right next to the Café. The garden has crops such as Kale, Cabbage, Spinach, Pepper and Onions that support sustainability for other CTC programs.
To promote community engagement in the garden, a drip kit system has been installed to education community members on new innovations of different farming practices. Rocky, CTC’s Environmental Coordinator is using the CTC land as a demonstration garden for community groups, individuals and schools.
To fertilize the gardens, liquid manure is applied to all the plots in intervals. The earth worm project has also enhanced organic farming by supplementing the soil with a lot of nutrients to improve the soil's quality as well as quality of the produce.
The CTC land is and will continue to be an amazing paradise in Maai Mahiu, Kenya.
