Goal
Hey all!
My name is Erica Hernly, I am a Junior at the University of Kansas and I have been given an amazing opportunity. This July 2014 I will be traveling with a group of students to Maai Maihu, Kenya! Through a group known as Comfort the Children International, an Austin, Texas based non-profit organization, I will spend two weeks with the people of Maai Mahiu learning their culture, gardening and building structures.
Mission trips have been a passion of mine since before freshman year of high school and have taken me all around the United States. The people I have met and the experiences I've had, have changed my life. Going to Maai Mahiu is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I'm extremely excited to pursue. As an architecture major, this mission trip is extremely important as I've been in contact with local Comfort the Children designers to improve and reivew aspects of the new Resource Center being built. Experiencing the architectural world outside the United States is rare opportunity that not many others will share. Mission trips have shaped who I am today, and I would like to continue to do more throughout college and after college as well.
Here is where your part comes in! $4,000 is an ambitious goal and would cover travel, food and lodging for the two weeks in Maai Mahiu and coming back to Kansas. If you are able to assist in anyway financially, it is greatly appreciated! If not, I ask you to do one thing, that is to "share" this link on your timeline.
