The Maai Mahui Children's Home is located along the major trade route between Nairobi, Kenya and Kampala, Uganda, know as the AIDS Highway. It is home to 140 children left orphaned through disease, abuse, poverty, and abandonment. The children's home was CTC's entry into Maai Mahiu. The children are resilient, sleeping with roaches and rats, yet waking each morning with fresh smiles and contagious laughter.
Some of these children have never been held and many are rarely touched.
Our teams spend a good deal of time relaxing and playing at the home nurturing relationships and seeking to love. CTC works closely with the director of the home, Paul Maina Mwaniki, providing maintenance needs, assisting in building projects, and health care/sanitation provisions.
