The CTC youth program has partnered with County Council of Nakuru to provide efficient and timely garbage collection services in Maai Mahiu, Kenya. March 1st, 2012 was a launching day whereby our youth gathered at the office to wear their new protective gear ready for the day. It was a big day for both the community and us where all eyes were on our youth since now the talk of Maai Mahiu town is waste management. Everyone understands and appreciates that most diseases are preventable (air borne, water borne, poor sanitation and unhygienic personal behavior). We are proud because this is a step towards a positive direction to a clean hygienic environment!!!
The exercise saw tonnes of garbage collected and transported to the dumping site that has been provided by the local council. 11 youth and 2 women are currently working on the project and we have received 237 applications for jobs.
Bravo CTC youth and keep up a good job.
