SOCCER IN THE WILDERNESS

Whether or not you are playing soccer in the wilderness or on an astro-turf field, soccer is a great way to bring a community together and strengthen bonds. While our soccer field is not the best, we make sure that our team plays to the best of their ability. Thank you to all who are supporting our CTC Soccer Team, encouraging our success and bringing soccer to life in our community.

One month has passed since our volunteer coach, Evans Omondi, came to visit us. His coaching has changed our team in lots of ways, especially in skill and unity. Evens' experience and passion for soccer provided us with excellent training. His involvement led to a rise in attendance this season. A maximum of 90 players are now attending daily practices, divided into 4 teams (Girls, Under 17, Under 14 and a Senior Team). He introduced many new routines to us, which we will continue to use. One example is time management for the players as they continue their training season.

Evens created a schedule for our soccer league:
• Senior Team & Under 17 play - 6 am to 8:30 am
• Under 14 play - 9 am to 12 noon
• Girls play - 1 pm to 3 pm
• Senior Team  & Under 17 play – 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm

Then the day breaks for all of our tired players!

After all their hard work during the week they also come out for matches Wednesday and over the weekend, playing teams from the national level, to improve their skill and help them gain confidence.

Our volunteer coach also taught us how to track player participation by having them sign in at every practice. Currently the team is very excited preparing for the Safaricom Tournament, hoping to win 1st place at a national level.

Only time will tell if all of our hard work will pay off. We are very excited to play for our community. Thank You Evens for all of your help and knowledge!
