Goal
My name is Kendall Washington and I am a student at the University of Texas. This December I have the privilege of getting to travel with the Episcopal Student Center at All Saints' Episcopal Church to Kenya. I have gone on numerous mission trips before, but have never been more excited than I am for this one. Ubuntu is a traditional African phrase meaning, "I am because we are." In all that we do, we will seek to live into this way of life, strengthening the ties that bind us together. I have been chosen as one of the members of the Community and Faith Team that will be going to Maai Mahiu for ten days starting December 30th. We are going for the purpose of building relationships - with one another and with the people of Kenya. We will work alongside grandmothers in the gardens, children in the classrooms and community health workers in refugee camps to experience firsthand how the work of CTC International has transformed this community. At the close of each night, we will spend time reflecting and praying together, so that we get the most out of the experience and are able to bring back some of the knowledge and insight that we gain. As you look to the end of the year, and consider your charitable contributions for the year, please consider a gift of financial support for this mission work. With incredibly high airfare costs, twelve days on the ground will cost $4,000. I firmly believe that the “cost” of this trip cannot be measured in dollars, as the impact will reach far beyond our time in Kenya, but the cost is real. Anything from $5 to $500 would be a tremendous help in reaching my goal. I would also like to ask for your prayers. As you know, without the community of God, mission work would not be.
