The match was at Ngeya primary field, where the Maai Mahiu Youth United played the mighty Naivasha Command (from Naivasha prison). The opponents were muscular, huge and a bit older compared to our team, whose oldest player is 23.
Maai Mahiu Youth United played very well, having the first and second goals scored through penalty and a third scored through a spectacular move. Command managed to get just one goal for the road. They were shocked that the young boys were winning and they were so much smaller. The only option left for them was rioting. The game was called off and we emerged winners. Yeeeeee…….!!!! Bravo Maai Mahiu Youth United.
They are champions in Naivasha District league and have progressed to County level, with the trophy remaining in Maai Mahiu, which will be officially handed over to the winners on January 29th 2012 at Lake View Naivasha.
Badilika Blue Cross youths entertained the guests and made the whole event so graceful, with the health program offering VCT services where 16 people were tested. Among the guests were, Local Councilor John Mwangi Gikonyo, nominated former County Council Chairman John Murigu, aspiring politicians and Community Management Committee.
The cheering squad had an estimated 1000-1500 people including all CTC administrative staff and mums (who prepared meals for the occasion).
After the victory, we celebrated the birthday of our Director Jeremiah Kuria at our Health Resources Center. Happy Birthday J-Man!!!
