A Second Season for Yes to Carrots!

In cooperation with Yes to Carrots and Mama Hope, the new Yes to School garden at Ngeya Environmental Club was a big success. The Mama Hope organization focuses on enhancing the potential of communities by facilitating the sharing of global resources necessary for them to thrive. Recently partnered with Mama Hope, the beauty product company Yes to Carrots funded the Yes to School garden, one of their first philanthropic projects. Environmental club members were enthusiastic and worked hard in the garden. Sukumawiki (kale), spinach, onions, tomatoes and carrots were harvested and produced a good yield.

Since a school feeding program is not yet available, all of the crops were sold. It is critical that we move forward with a school feeding program since such a large number of kids do not attend school due to lack of food. We are looking forward to starting our second season, and hope to plant even more vegetables in our thriving Yes to School garden.

Watch students from the CTC's environmental club show off their vegetables.
