Disability, not Inability

Lucy Njeri, a 20 year old Malaika Kid, has complications of poor memory and audio capacity. Lucy requires continuous recapping to catch up, however, through her enrollment in Shooting Stars, has proved that disability is not inability.

She has demonstrated the ability to lead other kids in praise and worship during the morning devotions. Lucy’s achievements not only serve as evidence of the good work that has been done by her caretakers, but also, confirms her capability to undertake the responsibilities of her developing life skills. She now has the ability to lead in thanks giving before meals, ensure the cleanliness and organization of classrooms, and be accountable for returning utensils to the kitchen.

Under the training of CTC’s own, Liz Josiah, along with the help of her teacher Mrs. Jane, Lucy has acquired the sewing necessary to accomplish one of her most marvelous feats. She is now able to produce quality products such as bags and life jackets! She will soon join Malaika Mums, the production unit of CTC's L.I.F.E. Line. Lucy must qualify in all aspects of the production process, hopefully by early July. She will then earn an income thru the L.I.F.E. Line and be in a position to be self-sufficient.

Once Lucy graduates from the Malaika Kid’s Program, she will also be exempted from the monthly contributions for maintenance and sustainability of the program. After joining the Malaika Mums team, Lucy will receive earnings from her products and help boost support for her family.
