Maai Mahiu Youth United Soccer Team Fundraiser

Saturday 14th April, 2012 remains a memorable day for us! It was an eventful fundraising day for our Community soccer team Maai Mahiu Youth United. The soccer committee, the community and CTC family participated in the event. The occasion was also graced by the arrival and participation of the Bodwell High School 2012 team. The colorful event included routine dance by Spikes Maai Mahiu dancing team, music from two Bodwel students, a local singer Mama Teddy and dancing and enjoyment by all participants.

CTC has contributed to a great extent in the empowerment process of the team and was delighted to promote them in their fundraising event to enable them compete at the County level. Maai Mahiu Youth United is the number 1 soccer team at the District Level and currently representatives of Naivasha District at the county level. The teams’ focus is to nature talents, develop skills and abstain from Drugs and substance abuse, from HIV/AIDS and other STIs, refraining from being idle which a prevalent challenge in Maai Mahiu.

The highlight of it all was a return home for the under 16yrs soccer team who had travelled to Naivasha for a game that they easily won. In addition, 3 boys were selected by Coca Cola to proceed to the County team of U-16. The team arrived home with in new regalia from Coca-Cola Company. It was all cheering and dancing despite the heavy rains!
