Every third Saturday of the month, CTC International Kenya hosts Ubuntu Day with partners, the stakeholders, and the community at large for environmental awareness and clean up activity.
This has been one way of improving living conditions in Maai Mahiu community. Last Saturday however was unique. We worked on a different area than we normally do and by the end of 2 cleaning hours, a big difference could be noticed. The event attracted over 150 people.
Being a recognized leader in creating opportunities, CTC is looking into a sustainable and lasting solution to waste management. The youth have come up with the great idea of starting a garbage collection group whereby all residential and commercial plots, vendors, and restaurants are required to pay up an agreed amount of money which will be used for waste collection and proper disposal. Through this they will not only be promoting hygiene, but also economically empower themselves therefore making a major difference in the community.
