You may recall that with my last update, I mentioned that ten women had joined the Malaika Mums team. These women were selected for the expansion of our economy initiative because of their self motivation and passion. Like the other Malaika Mums, they have children with special needs and in the past have struggled to feed their families through day labor.
So far the mums have already acquired sewing skills and have been attending tutoring classes over the weekend. These extra sessions are aimed at getting the new mums to the same level as the rest of the team and to improve the quality of their products. In addition, the knowledge and skills instilled in the lives of these women will last for a long time.
Through their great efforts, the mums have been making a commendable number of 230 L.I.F.E bags and 1000 L.I.F.E jackets every day.
CTC International has done a great job with restoring hope in Maai Mahiu and its impact has been deeply felt. It is wonderful to be able to expand these opportunities to ten new mums. These mums are a great asset to the organization and are a testament to CTC’s ability to empower and change lives.
Thank you,
Liz Josiah, Economy Coordinator
