Many of the health problems in towns like Maai Mahiu are preventable. A basic understanding of nutrition and personal hygiene would save many children from common ailments such as worms, diarrhea and malnutrition. Whilst we recognize that symptoms cannot be left untreated our approach is to provide health initiatives that focus on both prevention and treatment. Improving the diet of families through our agricultural programs, running health education classes in local schools and orphanages, working on nutrition for patients with HIV/ AIDS are all ways in which we are meeting the health related issues in Maai Mahiu.  CTC is also working alongside the government health clinic as well as the Ministry of Health in providing short term medical and dental care from the United States by running week long clinics each year.
