Antony Gitau, born and raised in Maai Mahiu, Kenya, has seen the town develop over the past 22 years. Even before the creation of CTC, Zane and Antony knew each other. Zane had helped his Aunt who was very sick, by taking her to the hospital and helping her get medicine. Over time, Antony and his whole family grew very close to Zane as well. Zane helped Antony’s grandma by assisting around their house and gathering food. Soon after CTC was created, Antony was a part of the youth groups.

During his holidays off from University, Antony works at CTC as a Team Leader. He enjoys interacting with all the different teams that travel to Maai Mahiu and likes to see the volunteers enjoy their time in the community. CTC is like a family to Antony and always has been ever since he was young. CTC has helped him develop his abilities and recognize his strengths and weaknesses in life. He believes it is a golden opportunity to work at CTC.

The word “Ubuntu” has different meetings to each CTC staff member. To Antony, “Ubuntu” is a very unique word because he believes that he could not be who he is today if it weren’t for the CTC family. Antony credits CTC with helping him realize all that he is capable of in life.

After graduating from University, Antony hopes to continue to work for CTC full time either in Maai Mahiu or Austin, Texas.
