Health clinics with CTC Med Team

- STORIES FROM MAAI MAHIU, KENYA -

It was an exciting week hosting a medical team from ‘Specially for Children, an Austin pediatric facility, for a 4 day camp in Maai-Mahiu health centre and Oiti church in Maasai-land. Over 500 people in these two locations were diagnosed and treated with different health conditions to include; dental problems, general medical consultations and treatment and physical rehabilitation and advice. Relevant conditions were referred to other health institutions amongst them; Naivasha district hospital, Kijabe Mission Hospital for further management having a pre-established referral system. Additionally, immunizations, health education and nutritional supplement support and education were also offered.

Evaluations we are receiving from the clients who were most needy for these services show that a large number of people had access these fundamental services from medical professionals both from Kenya and ‘Specially for Children courtesy of CTC International.

This one week event attracted a huge number of patients and clients that the medical team was overwhelmed and was compelled to work till late hours during the day. This exciting event brought together medical practitioners from the two sides of the world; Texas USA and Maai Mahiu Kenya, who shared knowledge and experience and also had enough time to interact with the community.

On Saturday the 21st of July, the Medical team came together with the CTC staff in Kenya to participate in a common day at CTC Kenya – UBUNTU where they planted trees at the new CTC land. This being the first medical team from Specially for Children to plant trees at the CTC land, all the trees planted by them will be tagged with their names.

CTC family would like to thank ‘Specially for Children, Kijabe Mission Hospital and government institutions for facilitating this successful day of medical care.
