On the morning of Monday the 25th, the CTC family and Whole Planet volunteers came together to celebrate the arrival of water on our land. There was singing and dancing after a long effort of rerouting water from the springs in the hills, down to the CTC land. Since the beginning of the process, residents of Maai Mahiu have been showing signs of growth by buying land around the area. A fresh water supply will not only benefit the people of Maai Mahiu, but also the residents in surrounding areas whom are facing shortage of water.
The day was also marked by breaking ground for the construction of the first ever bakery to be built in Maai Mahiu. Whole Planet volunteers, will be working along-side a Kenyan contractor and the Maai Mahiu youth soccer team to make this project successful.
This historic moment was crowned with a heavy down pour in the afternoon, lasting for 3 hours, which in African culture means that the day was blessed.
Thank you to Dell Children’s 'Specially for Children and the Whole Planet Foundation for taking our community to a higher level.
